March 2017 Ongoing Programs

  • L. Keefe Center:   Hats, mittens, gloves and scarves are needed for children and adults this time of year. Our committee has been able to drop off school supplies, and the hats and scarves knit by the TBS Knitters. Using donation funds, school supplies and mittens were purchased and donated. Thank you to those who have been donating funds to the Diane Kaplan Fund. This allows us to purchase these necessary supplies for those in need in our community.   • Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen: Sign up to help prepare, and serve meals to the homeless in downtown New Haven. You’ll be surprised how rewarding an experience this can be! Please contact Jackie Weiss for more information at 203-265-6744.
  • Fresh Fruit Program: Sign up to deliver 24 pieces of fresh fruit to local women’s and children’s shelters. Contact Deborah Wilkenfeld to sign up. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  • New Reach (Formerly New Haven Home Recovery): At this time New Reach can use diapers, wipes & toiletries. Also, Spring clothing and light weight Spring jackets. For Any bedding of all sorts; pillows and blankets are also being requested. Please place these items into the box for New Reach. Contact Fran Parness at 203-484-9506.
  • Tower One/Tower East: Volunteers are needed to the senior residents. Some of the ways our temple is volunteering includes Tai Chi classes led by David Bailey, and a Lunch & Learn Series.   • Toiletry Collection for Homeless: We continue to collect toiletries for the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen. The basket has been filling with your generous donations each week.   • Knitting Project: Thank you to the knitting volunteers for the many beautiful hats and scarves for the needy in our community!!!! Volunteers are always needed to knit! Place donations in the hallway bins if you are able….if not, make a donation to the Diane Kaplan Social Action Fund. We will do the shopping for you!
