February 2015: From TBS President Sy Kaplan

Dear members:

In my spare time (away from TBS) I enjoy watching basket- ball at the college level. I go to Qunnipiac and UConn Women’s games. What I learn from watching them is to have a great team you must have teamwork. So it is in any organization. The man or woman at the top gets all the credit (or the blame). Here at TBS our team keeps working to provide a caring community where we can pray and play and learn. From the little ones to our more seasoned members, we have many opportunities for your participation. I am very proud of the members of our team and their team work.

January 2015: From TBS President Sy Kaplan

Dear members:

Thanksgiving night and our guests have gone, the table has been cleared, the dishes, pots and pans are washed, the leftovers have been put away, it is time for Eta and I to sit back and relax and think about what has happened this day. We are so thankful for all we have, our family, our friends, our health (sure we have our aches and kvetches, the knees are not working like they used to, but we are still upright and getting along).

December 2014: From TBS President Sy Kaplan

Dear members:

As I write this article, I was looking over the calendar for the month of November and it struck me that all the days and nights show some sort of activity, from USY and Kadima, K'tanim, movie series, adult ed classes, men's club, sisterhood meetings and programs, lunch and learn, L'chaim Havdeli, social action, Sunday morning Rabbi's programs, a book discussion later in the month, board of ed, board of directors meetings, Hebrew school program, and yes, daily morning and evening Minyans and Friday night services and of course, Shabbat. There are programs and committees for everyone. Join in, put your talents to work. TBS welcomes all to join and keep us strong and active. The President’s message should not always be a plea for money. I’m asking for your support in joining and helping our on going projects. Take pride in all the events, social and religious. Join us for services, get to meet, not only our new members, but also our seasoned members. You can never tell what’s happening until you try it. Sy Kaplan
