April 2015 - Kadima Feeds the Hungry on Passover - DONE!

The Kadima chapter of the Temple Beth Sholom Hebrew School in Hamden conducted a Kosher for Passover food drive for families in need in the New Haven area. Kadima is an international youth group for Jewish pre-teens. On Sunday, March 22, the kids brought 122 lbs of food – enough for 93 meals – to the Jewish Family Service of New Haven Food Pantry, where they weighed the food, stocked the shelves and learned all about how the pantry works. Surprised – and moved – to find out about the many families in need, the pre-teens then took the initiative on the spot to empty their pockets and make a monetary donation. The pantry serves about 130 Jewish families monthly, and rarely receives Kosher for Passover food until after the holiday has passed, at which time the grocery stores donate their leftover holiday food items.
