TBS supports three ongoing projects that need continuous attention.

In the words of the Chair ...

I am often asked to suggest organizations to which individuals can
donate furniture or household items.  I do not have a warehouse to
store such useful things until the need arises, but if you are
remodeling, down-sizing, moving, or for any other reason have items to
dispose of, please consider giving to New Haven Home Recovery.  They
maintain a Furniture Co-Op, which collects furniture and housewares
from the general public and then gives them to families and
individuals who are transitioning from homelessness, living with
disabilities or other insufferable hardships. Clients are referred to
the Co-Op after being pre-screened by partner agencies to ensure that
those truly in need are receiving the essentials. The Co-Op turns
empty houses into homes.  You can read more about New Haven Home
Recovery on their website, http://nhhr.org/.

Hamden community services, located in the Keefe Center on Pine St. off
Dixwell maintains the Food Bank, for which we collect staple food
throughout the year.  They also are in need of cleaning supplies and
personal hygiene  products (full size-not hotel minatures) such as
shampoo, deoderant, and toothpaste, items that can not be purchased
with food stamps.

The Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen, DESK, provides free, nutritious
meals for homeless individuals, families, and the working and
non-working poor of the Greater New Haven area.  DESK serves hot
evening meals, packs free bag lunches, stocks food pantry bags,
maintains an emergency food bank for people in crisis and their pets.

meals for their guests.  There is a box for your donations in the back
hall.   Please shop for the following items and help us help our
neighbors in need.
